Kyle Riggs is in for a rough ride.
In ANNIHILATION, the seventh book of the Star Force Series, nothing goes as planned. The three fledgling human colonies in the Eden System are beginning to take hold, but the forces threatening to root them out are many. The Crustaceans are calling for help, despite the fact they are the sworn enemies of Star Force. Are they potential allies, or vicious tricksters? And why are the oceans of their world heating up?
Even as Riggs flies out to investigate the situation, more mysteries arise. The Blues are making vague threats, and Earth is suing for peace. Who is to be trusted, and who holds a dagger behind their backs?
ANNIHILATION is a military science fiction novel by bestselling author B. V. Larson. To find the first book in the series, search for SWARM. ANNIHILATION is the longest book in the series so far...
Annihilation Star Force Series Book 7 eBook B V Larson
I was excited to get this until I got about 1/2 way through the book. Then I was just disappointed. It was the same old stuff like the first few books. I trudged through and then about 2/3 of the way through it finally hooked me and I loved the rest of the book. This could easily have been at the end of the last book or the beginning of the next.I'm hoping the next book they finally DO something. Take care of the Blues...explore more rings...go back to Earth and kick butt. Stop flying around, doing nothing.
I gave the book 4 stars because it pulled through in the end. But I was hoping for more, and I'm still hoping for more in the next installment. I'll be back...same bat time, same bat channel.

Annihilation Star Force Series Book 7 eBook B V Larson Reviews
I am in love with the series, and have been from Swarm. This last iteration howver was not quite as good as the rest. *SPOILER ALERT* I feel the whole book seems to center around Sandra's "death" (even tho I see her coming back in the next book) and really did not spend enough time on a good solifd plot line, like what is happening on earth, lets fight some machines". These subjects are touched on but as I said, there is a lot of focus on Sandra and the relationship thing, not a Big selling point for the average sci-fi reader (at least for me anyway). I was hoping there would be a return to Earth, or some decisive macro or blue battle or issue that would come up, but the majority of the book is spend with Riggs lamenting Sandra. He got over his kids Dying in like 2 pages, but Sandra takes a whole book, somewhat illogical.
I love this series! I've read up Exile #11... Since it's been a while since I read book #1 I'm writing this for the whole series and copying it for each book since I don't know of any other way to review a series as a whole. It's a good, fun to read SyFy series without getting too technical. Just enough when needed. It's an alien invasion/fight for humanity type of series with a unique perspective. I recommend this for anyone as it isn't a "Hard Core Science Fiction" and is easy to read.
This series is, surprisingly, fast becoming a favorite.. and I have read a considerable number of books. There are quite a few spelling/grammar mistakes, even more than in previous books in the series, but I'm willing to look the other way because of how much I enjoy the actual story.
On one hand, I would strongly advise getting a proof reader (or if one exists, get a better one. Not an insult, just something that obviously needs to be done). On the other hand, I am extremely reluctant to advise anything which would slow down the release of future installments.
I can't wait for the next book.
I saw a review or two here about this book being not as good as the rest. Not true in my opinion. Some authors will follow a given formula to death and successive books will feel like more of the same- and apparently some readers will knock off a star if the author does not. Good authors will throw new stuff at you.
Lots of the stuff you loved from past books is here
Does Marvin still scheme and plot for his nasty little experiments? Yup.
Is there down-in-the-dirt brutal ground pounding action against the horrible Macros? You bet.
Does Larson still come up with bizarre but well thought out alien personalities? Check.
Lots more.
There's a few unexpected twists though, and they're good ones. Well executed in my opinion.
I, for one, can't WAIT to see who's "going to pay the bill first"! Thanks Mr. Larson, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the next one!
Again, another good installment in the Star Force series. The book followed a similar pattern to the other previous novels but gave us a couple of curve balls which will change future books. I thoroughly enjoyed the newest book and can't wait for the next one to come out.
However, I did notice about a dozen or so editing errors throughout the book. Nothing that will hinder a reader but something to point out.
Side not I love when Mr. Larson talks about other characters in his series, technology development and how the colonist are dealing with life in the Eden system. I wish in future books Mr. Larson would provide more written expanding these concepts.
I will also be purchasing the audio version of this book when it arrive.
I wasn't sure how BV Larson was going to keep this series fresh -- in the last several iterations, it was just more of the same starship or world fighting against strange aliens adequate reads and, if you liked what you were getting, more of the same was just fine, especially for the price point. The characters slowly developed and the plot was just spicy enough to keep you interested.
Number 7 doubles down on the adventure, plot twists and adds to the drama unlike any of the previous four or five. In this one, Riggs' Star Force is at home on an alien planet in a heavy cold war with Earth and trying to stave off Macro attacks and manage diplomatic relations with Crustaceans. When General Kerr arrives from Earth on a diplomatic mission, the politics get very interesting, especially when a major character is unexpectedly killed -- things get very interesting then!!
If you're a fan, you'll love this one. If not, well, you probably haven't made it this far anyway but start at number one! This is of the best in the series -- thanks for re-energizing the story!
